CONTINENTAL ALLIANCE FOR FOOD SECURITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE AMERICAS
The Continental Alliance for Food Security and Sustainable Development in the Americas focuses on promoting collective action by the countries of the region to promote and implement a new generation of policies and strengthen capacities that allow achieving more resilient agriculture and agri-food systems. inclusive, sustainable, profitable and competitive.
Collective action implies that countries work together based on their interests and needs, to find joint solutions to common problems, generate supranational public goods, develop state technical-political capacities in strategic areas and consolidate regional agri-food positioning on a global scale.
The ministries and secretariats of agriculture of the Americas, with the support of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and with the collaboration of other international agencies, have been building a process to agree on positions and define joint actions that strengthen the transition of the agri-food systems of the Americas, as a contribution to global and continental food security and as a solution to the global climate crisis. This political-institutional process has been evolving within the framework of the following mandates of the Member States.
